RSVP Update

Funding will be used to support RSVP’s extensive volunteer services in Greater North Penn and our ongoing recruitment of additional volunteers through information sessions, 18 of which were held in Lansdale, Souderton, and Blue Bell this past year.

The following information highlights our Greater North Penn  presence this past year which we will continue and enhance with your help.

Volunteers working in RSVP’s Volunteer Impact Programs contributed the following services to vulnerable  populations:

Apprise:  Nine trained RSVP counselors provided 1,697 hours of Medicare and public benefit assistance and information to 530residents of Greater North Penn.

America Reads:  30 trained volunteers contributed 2226 hours individually tutoring to 340 elementary school students having reading difficulty at the following

schools: Blue Bell, E.C. Crouthemel, GwynNor, Hatfield, Lower Gwynedd, North Wales, Oak Park, Shady Grove, Stony Creek, and Walton Farms.

Family Literacy Volunteer Program (FLVP): Eight volunteers contributed 524 hours reading to102 area Head Start students (Lansdale, Souderton, Schwenksville, Ambler). 

FLVP also provided six new gift books to each student with accompanying reading instructions for their parents, provided workshops for parents on the importance of reading to

their children’s futures and how to help them and home, and implemented a class and home reading incentive program called the Lucky Readers Club in each classroom.

Protégé: Six one-on-one mentors contributed 268 hours providing weekly, long-term mentoring to six students at Kulp Elementary School, Penndale Middle School, and North Penn High School.

SAGE:  Six volunteers contributed 1,505 hours tutoring and mentoring 100 students at North Montco. Technical Career Center.

Help on Call: 15 volunteers assisted 27 low-income seniors living in their own homes with  transportation to medical appointments, shopping, repairs, paperwork and companionship.

51  RSVP volunteers contributed 3,300+ hours enhancing  the capacity and service delivery of the following nonprofit agencies serving Greater North Penn: 

Meals on Wheels at Ambler Montco. SAAC and Generations of Indian Valley; Impact Thrift; Keystone Opportunity Center; Manna on Main Street; Interfaith Housing Alliance;

Abington Lansdale Hospital; Easter Seals; Mitzvah Circle; NAMI;  North Penn United Way; Wissahickon Library (Adult Literacy tutoring); Wissahickon Library Ambler Branch; Ambler Y;

Abramson Center, Indian Valley Library; North Wales Library; ARC; Belfry Bargains.
